Hello, World!

Seeing as this is my first post, I think a few more introductions (or apologies might be the more suiting word) are in order. Here are a few things you need to know about me, before we can be friends.

  1. Despite the fact that I used to write for a living, I cannot spell to save my life. I also like to overuse parentheses, commas and ellipses (which honestly, is probably not how you spell the damn word). This is the reason proofreaders exist and are a godsend for people like me. No one wants to proof pro-bono for a blog that has no followers (sigh).
  2. This is hands-down both my husband’s favorite and least favorite thing about me – I rarely get a famous saying or expression correct (for example, I sent out a massive email to a shit-ton of professionals apologizing profusely about making a request in the 13th hour, blah, blah, blah…yeah, it’s the 11th hour). Depending on his mood it’s either hilarious or annoys the shit out of him. Side note: see #1 about overuse of said punctuations.
  3. I think that sarcasm is a stellar parenting technique, because honestly, that’s all I’ve got. It occasionally backfires (much, much more on this to come), but overall my kids have a sense of humor because of it. That or they’re going to be the mean kids, only time will tell.
  4. I find humor and appreciation in people who can laugh at how miserable parenting can be sometimes. Of course I feel blessed beyond measure to have my two little jackasses, but I don’t like you if you judge me for calling a spade a spade. And you will certainly not like 90% of my posts if you disagree.
  5. I have OCD and ADHD, which sadly counteract each other. I also have very strong opinions on the fact that “hanger” is a real emotion.
  6. I get super irritated at all the new “Pipers” out there because it’s apparently becoming a trendy name, and yet we flat-out stole that name from a birth announcement at our OB’s office. First and middle name, so original.
  7. I get more upset about animals being killed-off in movies than I do about people. Yes, I do feel like there is something wrong with this, but it is what it is.
  8. I have no idea where I was going with this list…refer to #1 and #5.

Basically, my therapy was too expensive, so I decided to start a blog. You’re welcome for making you feel better about yourself and/or parenting skills, social skills, life.
